So, you played around with your new SSD drive, looked for settings, used smart defragmentation programs, only to find out the the build-in defragmenter of Windows 8 just works fine, and sends nice trim commands to your SSD….
But, all this playing around leaves your default defragger greyed out…. because those programs deinstalled your default windows defragger….
Even if you add %systemroot%\system32\dfrgui.exe to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\DefragPath you still get:
The Disk Defragmenter is not installed on your computer bla bla
Plenty of solutions online, but none work for Windows 8 64 bits, afaik…
In Windows 8 64 bits you also need to add %systemroot%\system32\dfrgui.exe to
